My name is Kelly "K-Fresh" Frazier. I'm based out of the Detroit area and I'm host of the podcasts Fresh is the Word (music/pop culture) and Renaissance Soul (Detroit Hip Hop History). As a historian of the Detroit scene, I've written about the city's music and culture through various forms of social media along with publications both here in Detroit and internationally. Ever since the age of 12 when I first caught interest in Detroit's rap music and hip-hop culture, I have nearly 30 years of knowledge to share. Outside of writing, he is a well-respected DJ within the city who has played numerous gigs in many of Detroit's most legendary venues.

Renaissance Soul was originally a Detroit Hip-Hop website started by me in 2001 that first centered around the discography of legendary producer Jay Dee aka J. Dilla before it branched out to all Detroit hip-hop and music.
